Yash Gandhi is a beautiful child affected with I-Cell Disease, also called MLII. A foundation was created to help find a cure to help other children with the same genetic disease.
What causes this disorders? An enzyme deficiency in the body prevents the body from properly breaking down molecules. And when this molecules build up over time, they go on to damage all cells and organs in the body. Children affected with the disease suffer from a lot of medical problems. Everything from physical features, limited growth, learning disabilities, sensory deficiencies, respiratory problems, heart disease, and severe bone and joint stiffness.
Children severely affected usually die in the first few years. Milder cases, the children live up to 10 years. There is no cure at this time. But promising research is going on to develop therapeutic methods to overcome the disease. When these become available they would make a difference to many young lives. The funding for research on these diseases is very limited.
The first benefit event for Yash was held at King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company with a Diwali Dinner Dance Party and music provided by DJ Pritts. Members of ONE attended. We invite you to find out more about I-Cell Disease and efforts into Finding A Cure. Contact Yash's parents, Sonal & Ashesh Gandhi at: 610-455-1068 or SGandhi00@yahoo.com and make a deposit to the spirit of man by helping a worthy child.
