WE INVITE THE COMMUNITY TO JOIN US AS WE CELEBRATE AND HONOR THE WORK OF CAMP DREAMCATCHER
Meet the people who make this camp happen, learn of their mission and share their dreams through Native American music, rituals & sharing a meal. All who work for this camp volunteer their services and children attend free. Each camper receives a backpack filled with the weeks' necessities FREE! Such a program requires funding, donations and support from us all. We ask for your generosity in the form of gifts and money. All who bring a new backpack, will be admitted free.

Camp Dreamcatcher was formed more than five years ago a committee of concerned men and women. It offers the children a safe, supportive and nurturing place to express their feelings of fear, sadness and anger, with adults who understand, and with children who may share their burdens. Through the years Camp Dreamcatcher has also developed special programs that have become a vital part of its ongoing support of the children and their families. The programs include: Children's Case Management, Counselor-In-Training (offered especially for the children who have reached age 14 and no longer can attend camp as a camper), HIV/AIDS Education, and retreats, one for parents & guardians, and one for counselors. Also for the children, Camp Dreamcatcher continues to incorporate activities for them throughout the winter months.

Camp Dreamcatcher contributes to the community with. . .
  • a counselor in training program held during the week of camp for kids 14-16 which is a combination of HIV/AIDS, diversity, anger management, stress management and conflict resolution training and the opportunity for the participants to serve in the role as counselor in a supervised setting.
  • an educational program on puberty and self-esteem for 10-13 year old campers held during the week of camp.
  • a caregivers retreat for the parents/guardians of the campers
  • children’s HIV/AIDS case management services
  • HIV/AIDS education and training for volunteer counselors
  • weekend retreats held twice a year for the campers/counselors
  • therapeutic sessions held during the week of camp and facilitated by psychotherapists, music therapists, yoga and massage practitioners to offer the campers an opportunity to express their feelings and receive support in a safe environment.
There is no charge for any of the services offered by Camp Dreamcatcher. All funds are raised from foundations, the United Way of Kennett Square and Avon Grove, corporations, individuals and fundraising events.

Temenos Retreat Center is a nonprofit Conference and Retreat Center where people can come for spiritual growth, education, personal and social transformation, and mutual support. It is an outreach ministry of the Swedenborgian Church at Temenos and was established to facilitate renewal and transformation in human lives. Programs are open to persons of all spiritual traditions. The sacred space of Temenos is also available for private individual retreats and for groups wishing to reserve space for their own programs or events.

We are honored that Temenos shares its facility for us to hold community gatherings with our semi-monthly potluck gatherings. We are moved by Patty Hillkirk's Direction of Camp Dreamcatcher and we thank her for being our key speaker. We invite everyone to find out more about Camp Dreamcatcher and how we can help the children. To keep abreast of all of our gatherings and other events in your area, see our calendar at www.ASharedJourney.com/Calendar.
