What has the Foundation for the Study of Cycles Done for Me? WOW!
I made my first futures trade in the summer of 1968. I was fresh out of college, poor, and I knew nothing about the markets. Fortunately I had a broker who knew what he was doing. He was making money for me in shell egg futures. I had no idea how he was doing it. I pressed him repeatedly with the "how do you do it?" question. At long last he told me he was trading based on a seasonal cycle and a time based cycle. Both terms were foreign to me.
After a while of watching him trade I decided, against his objections, to take the account over for myself. I lost all the money he had made. I was using traditional chart based rules that simply didn't work - rules that probably don't work.
I floundered for a few years until somehow, some way, through some major good luck I saw a copy of CYCLES Magazine. I was blown away. I talked to me. It made sense. It was fabulous. I read articles by Edward R Dewey, John H. Nelson, James Vaux, Gertrude Shirk and many others.
I still have the December 1968 issue in mint condition (and many others). There, on page 287, larger than life, is the article entitled Cycles in Egg Prices. It opened my eyes and my eyes are still open. I've been studying, researching, trading and investing with cycles and patterns even since that fateful day.
CYCLES changed my life. CYCLES was the key to my success. CYCLES opened the door that took me from poverty to success. I've taken cycles and patterns and I've combined them with timing and risk management to create my own style that is as objective as I can possibly make it.
We all need to give back. I'm doing just that!
